Show us the results of innovative designers & architects utilizing the world’s superior stone and tile
from the leading distributor. Stone Technologies and Design New England magazine are proud to
announce the 2010 Stone Technologies’ DESIGN SET IN STONE Call for Entries. The competition
recognizes the exceptional work of architects and designers who use Stone Technologies in
their projects.

 

Prizes & Categories

Winners will be selected in the following categories and receive a
Design Set In Stone award and certificate:

• Conceptual Design

• Existing Design – Kitchen
• Existing Design – Bath
• Existing Design – Fireplace
• Existing Design – Open (other unique interior use of stone)

Additionally, the winner of the Conceptual Design category and an overall winner, which will be
selected from the Existing Design category, will receive a five-day trip to Carrara, Italy, on a quarry
tour, factory visit, stone-buying excursion with Stone Technologies’ President, Guy Fodera, in May, 2011.

All the winners will be recognized in Design New England magazine.

The winning projects will be exhibited in Stone Technologies’ showroom for an entire
year from selection date.

 

Rules

The competition is open to all architects and interior designers who would like to submit a conceptual
plan or an existing project for the below categories.

Conceptual Design:
STONE TECHNOLOGIES COMMERCIAL-GRADE, LEARNING KITCHEN
Design must fall within established budget and implement products and materials offered through
Stone Technologies and their partners listed below. Stone Technologies’ products are excluded from
the overall budget only. Create two (2) color sketches or 3D CAD drawings for design concept and
include a completed Conceptual Design Submission form with a concept description.

Site Tour: Interested entrants are invited to make an appointment to tour the facility from April 19 to
Sept 30, 2010 to develop their conceptual plan and meet with Fodera regarding the scope of the project.
Appointments can be scheduled by calling (781) 358-6500.

Drawings: Existing schematics are available upon request.

 

Existing Design:
Design must include stone or tile purchased from Stone Technologies and a minimum of 50% of the
flooring, the working surface area, or a wall space of the project should include stone and/or tile. The
project must have been installed and completed between January 2005 and January 2010. Purchases
must be proven with a copy of the bill-of-sale submitted with entry. Amount of purchase will not be
shown to judges and is not considered a factor in the selection criteria. Domestic or international new
construction and/or renovation projects are eligible. Include four (4) color 8 x 10 images of project, an
Existing Design Submission Form with a Project Description and a copy of the bill of sale to complete
the submission.

Judging

A panel of design experts composed of Producer, Writer, and Renovation Consultant, Bruce Irving,
President of the National Kitchen and Bath Association, Mark L. Karas and Stone Technologies’
President, Guy Fodera. will judge the projects based on their creativity, functionality and aesthetic
appeal. The official criterion for the jury includes: overall design of the project, innovative use of
stone, and/or tile, quality of installation, and the degree that material enhances the setting.
